Three Beatrice residents face charges after authorities say a woman asked two friends to stab her so she could avoid a probation appointment.
The Beatrice Daily Sun reports that a Gage County Court judge ordered 21-year-old Jessalyn Stierwalt to be released from jail Thursday so she can enter a diversion program.
Stierwalt faces a charge of conspiracy to commit assault in the July 5 stabbing that she allegedly solicited. She could face up to five years in prison if convicted.
Court documents say Stierwalt was stabbed in her shoulder and abdomen by two friends.
Stierwalt told authorities she was drunk at the time and asked her friends to stab her because she needed time to sober up before her probation appointment.
The two friends have also been charged.
